Bride Speech –  Lisa emailed us to say:

I wanted to surprise David by saying something nice...you helped me to say just the right things that wouldn’t clash with David’s speech..thank you so much...I have now given David my speech in a scroll to keep...he loves it!

First of all welcome to you all for coming to our wedding at last, after all these years of us being together.

As we have had a very long courtship I thought we would celebrate that by breaking with tradition as we have done throughout our relationship and I would give a speech of my own.... I will allow David to give a speech of his own at the end.

My groom David, I would like to say how beautiful and radiant he looks and how proud I am that he has arranged this marriage at last..... David says he would have done this years ago but he could not find the time between cooking, cleaning, raising our two children and working.

David works very hard and his job as an engineer often involves travelling and though I try to be understanding of the pressures he is under he does let the ironing pile up at times......on these occasions I often have to nip out to meet with the girls for a quick glass of chardonnay and a good ol’ mickey take of him indoors…. David never complains and on these occasions he will even call me to tell me my dinner is on the table...... he works tirelessly to keep me and the children happy.

Occasionally David goes out with his friends and one in particular, his best man Pete…… Pete and David go back a long way and I would like to let Pete know that there will be no more weekly booze ups for David and the lads now he is married...

Pete you’re a lovely man for those who like fun games like ‘shave off one eyebrow while he's sleeping’...... but does anyone else know how scary that is after having a night out with the girls the first thing you see when you roll over in the morning is an eyebrow less stranger on the pillow?.....

Pete you have been a good friend to David, I don’t know what you two talk about when you are together…… but I know that David always comes home a happier man after having a good heart to heart with you and for that I get the benefits...

I would like to raise a toast to Pete and all David’s good friends, who know that a good kick around on the pitch and a weekly game of darts help keep him out of trouble and gives me a chance to get into some, with my chardonnay swilling friends......Cheers to all our friends...

David and I have been together since school and you could say that we grew up together and that has many advantages, we share a common history in many things including music and clothes.

I have always worn the trousers and David calls me bossy pants.... when he dares!

One of our favourite pastimes is looking through old photographs at the clothes we used to wear and this often leads to us howling and laughing..... before we start screaming and shouting over who used to nick who’s clothes, as I said we grew up together, and the brother- sister relationship can sit a bit uncomfortable at times.......

David is everything to me and though I don’t tell him as often as I should, I think he is an amazing man and a wonderful father to our two children Zack and Lucy. They both adore their father and he spoils them rotten by giving them time, energy and love.

David is a man I admire, he knows that being a man is not about big muscles and a beer belly, his strength is being a loving supportive partner, a devoted caring father, and a loyal son. David keeps us all safe and happy.

David I love you and I would like to give you these twelve red roses to let you know what a very special man you are and also take this chance to tell you once and for all….remember those yellow corduroys you wore to our leaving school disco….I saw you in them last week in front of the bedroom mirror….well they were mine…I still want them back!

Gentlemen and Ladies, boys and girls please raise your glasses to David......my beautiful groom.
