Poem - Marriage Proposal (1)
A Poem of a Marriage Proposal – Stuart told us Elise said “Yes, Yes, Yes!!”
Elise my lover and best friend
I didn’t dare tell the lads at the club playing rugby
a scrum with you is more fun
...you have a nicer bum!
I coo and aahh at cute things now
you laugh that I do
And I man giggle out loud and snort
at some funny thing that you say ...
only funny cos it’s you!
You can tough it out in a tent on a rocky hillside
I can’t keep up as you climb and disappear into cloud
One day I stumbled and you grabbed ME!
7st saved 12 st
5ft 4” caught 6ft 4”
my face went bright red...
well my leg was really sore!
you didn’t laugh...
You Howled! Very, very loud!
I forgave you, I had to
to stop you howling more!
I remember you gave me a frog
and said it was to remind me of what I was before I met you
I had no answer to the truth –
you kissed me and my world turned magic
Back to those hillsides where you sing me a song
Out of tune you make me swoon
‘by the light of the silvery moon’
And in the bars of Liverpool you’re the karaoke queen
The audience boo you
Yet soon they sing along
I feel very proud... Of my girl best friend
Time to tell the lads playing rugby
I want to make a public show
of all the love I have for you in my froggy little heart
I am getting down kneeling on my injured rugby knee
cos I am hoping this year together....
is just us at the start
Elise my lover and best friend
Will you marry me?
